First Day of Highschool

The First Day of School

The boys have started their first day and are almost halfway into their second week of school. Tyler has been doing great. Walking more, talking more, bending down, and being happy to be in school. On Monday the 14th, they had orientation. Not gonna lie— Dad was a little sad, Tyler zoomed away in his wheelchair and Spencer didn’t even say goodbye! The little guys are on the go.

Running

Spencer has joined the freshman cross country team, placed 5th in the alumni race and the freshmen won that race!! So proud. He is enjoying the team and is gunning for Varsity ASAP.

Classes

Tyler is excited about his engineering class. They are building a working arcade game out of cardboard and other tools. He questioned the necessity of his religion class, but it’s a Catholic school. We are looking to get his schedule modified soon, just for energy's sake.

Overall

The boys love school. They are having a great time.

In Case You Missed It!

On the 12th, Tyler gave out his Tyler Rodden AK award. An award for the swimmer who showed their sportsmanship, dedication, and team effort. We are proud that his time as a team mate have influenced others and that this is a new annual scholarship in his name for a team that changed the game for him.

Why did swimming impact Tyler so much?

Well, when we spoke about it, he mentioned that it was the connection to his body. He realized how sleep, nutrition, and mental balance directly affected his swim times and endurance. He worked hard in the water and outside of the water to improve his stroke and speed. This sport gave him a purpose to improve, an outlet that made him happy and proud, and a team that feels like family.
